Berlin Retro Nudist Club
Germany is considered the birthplace of the retro nudist movement. The club was created by the youth of the 19th century under the motto "Back to Nature" or "Culture of body freedom". After a while, it became a mass movement, about 1 thousand Berliners were part of the retro nudist club. At the beginning of 1970, this kind of freedom of expression was tolerated. The number of members of the nudist club increased several times in the 1990s due to the advent of the Internet. The Internet has helped to unite people from different cities with similar interests.
The leader of the Berlin retro nudist club was Engelbrecht. He had to spend a lot of time in order to find a secluded place for the members of the nudist club to relax. Having found a suitable place, the club members took turns guarding the rest of the vacationers, on the watchtower, from prying eyes. Retro nudists were provided with sun loungers for sunbathing, ping-pong tables and a volleyball court.
With the coming to power of Hitler, the retro nudist club was temporarily closed. They issued a decree in which it was prescribed about the danger of nudity providing German culture and morality. Engelbrecht and his supporters began to hide and gather less often in places specially designated for recreation.
