The culture of Crimean nudism

All over the world, bathing naked is taken for banal hooliganism. But the scale, as well as the economic benefits of the nudist movement in the Crimea, make us look at it from a completely different angle.

Nudism and naturalism in the Crimea has never been a challenge to the foundations of society, but was quite restrained. The whole point was in solitude, proximity to nature and, of course, health. It's true, swimsuits and swimming trunks cover the most sensitive places, where the skin is thinner, and the concentration of nerve endings is denser. Doctors have proven that hydro massage, air and sand baths have a positive effect on the body as a whole.

If in the West naturism began with a desire to reconnect with nature, in the Crimea it was recognized as an effective method of treating tuberculosis. It was there that bathing and sunbathing naked were perceived by others quite tolerably.

There are no mass gatherings of nudists in Crimea, as in other countries. You won't see naked people outside the beach. Nowadays, Crimean nudism consists of the traditions of the Russian family bath, moral values and the influence of Western culture. It was in the Crimea that the intelligentsia of the two capitals sought unity with nature.

For more than 40 years, a unique mountain and beach culture has been created, through which the third or fourth generation is already passing. Among the rocks of the capes of Soter, Meganom and Foros, among the forests of the Bati Estuary, New World and Laspi bays, in the grottoes of the Sultan Rock and Ayu-Dag, near the Golubovsky stones and in Koktebel, there are places where people experience real freedom together with friends and family. After all, the English word "naked", which lies at the root of the word nudist, has several other semantic translations-open, real, frank.
