Outer Banks: a vacation soaked in the alluring history of the Atlantic

Outer Banks is a place better known to the Russian-speaking person as the Outer Shoals, where history oozes out of every pebble, the smallest grain of sand and completely permeates the salty sea air.

The famous aviators Orville and Wilbur Wright made their first flight here. The pirate Blackbeard spent his last battle here. And these regions also store in their depths the lost treasures of the "Lost Colony", better known as Roanoke, which disappeared without a trace.

This name was given to the Outer Banks ridge for the large accumulation of sunken ships at the bottom, which ran aground here at one time or were wrecked during the unfriendly storms of the local coastal zone. Local legends indicate that somewhere in these parts, on the bottom of the Atlantic, there is still the gold of a banker whose ship was wrecked off the coast of the Outer Shoals in 1600. By the way, the horses that were also on this ship successfully reached the shore and perfectly settled down in these parts. Now they are one of the attractions of the Outer Banks and a reminder of the old days.

Holidays on the Outer Banks are closely connected with the past of the region. Being a huge tourist region today, the Outer Shoals have preserved their history and offer tourists a holiday in a rustic style. This both relaxes and promotes active recreation, for example, horseback riding. Another local tradition, not so popular, but existing along with others, is naked bathing, i.e. the region has developed a recreation area for nudists. Swimsuits are also acceptable here, but you need to be prepared for the fact that vacationers will meet without clothes.
